An age old debate: which is better the film or the book? While The Battle of Adaptation is a discussion that is not aimed at answering that question; instead, we will be focusing on the differences that appear between the film and the novel.
We’re going to be kicking off this new event strong by visiting a cultural icon and taking a deep dive back into the past, back to 1997 where a young J.K. Rowling had just published the start to a fresh new fantasy series: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Little did anybody, including Rowling herself, know just how famous this series would become.
Four years later, and three more books, the first movie came out propelling an even bigger claim to fame for Harry Potter and now the actors that played in it.
Is the magic the same on screen as it is off screen? Let’s delve straight into the mystifying world of Harry Potter and see what we can find.
Please keep in mind we will NOT be watching the whole film. We will only be watching a selection clips when relevant to the conversation.
