Learn how to save money on groceries by freezing and dehydrating foods. Presented by The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley.
Interested in saving money on groceries and prolonging the life of your food? Join St. Charles residents John and Char Johnson-Dunlop and learn all about freezing and dehydrating foods. John and Char will share their techniques and years of experience during a hands-on demonstration where they will “put up” delicious fruit jerkies and various Mexican and Italian sauces. With farmers’ markets in the area starting to offer fresh fruits and veggies, now is the time to learn these life skills, which will enable individuals to extend the life of the healthy foods they buy beyond the growing season. This program is being presented by The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley, a nonprofit organization based in Batavia that is committed to building sustainable and just food systems, as well as restoring quality and equality to the food supply.
